"Rex Maximilian" is an eponymous professional and fine art photography business based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Rex's early professional career and college studies were in the fields of art and architecture, though he has pursued astronomy and other sciences at various times since childhood and through college. A desire to evolve his career path in his late-thirties led him to the natural progression of architectural photography, as well as other forms of professional photography services. In addition to a professional approach to photography, he has also pursued landscape, travel, life-style and fine art genres of photography, and has displayed his work at several galleries and solo shows in the past ten years.

He is self-taught in the craft of photography, and cites his study and professional experience in architecture and art as having the largest influences on his work.

Rex enjoys hiking the mountains and valleys of Oahu, as well as cycling Mt. Tantalus and the coastline of East Oahu. Other interests include sketching and playing Hawaiian slack-key guitar. He has called Hawaii home for the past 29 years!

Ranging in services from Architectural Photography to Products and Portraits, we strive to offer exemplary images that are of a timeless nature and usage. "Non-stylized" images are delivered for professional use. From there, they may be artistically stylized for various web or social media use, but initially, tack-sharpness, balanced tone with no clipping and balanced color temperatures are delivered for the greatest versatility in all mediums and industry needs.

Architectural Photography
While I offer other genres of professional photography, this is the primary focus of my photographic services. In a nutshell, it's what I do!
In today’s market of consumer digital photography, your potential clients are presented with a plethora of photographs from your competitors. Whether you are designer, a realtor/home owner or vacation rental business, it is difficult to have your services or property “stand out” amongst a sea of digital content… with one exception: PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY.

Event Photography
This has become the fastest growing area of our photography services. From farm-to-table dinners to dance performances and beach weddings*, we've been there to document special occasions. But where we shine is convention/trade expo photography. By utilizing our images to highlight your event, you’re sure to spark interest with your potential attendees for future events by showing the excitement and benefits from attending. We also strive to highlight your branding as well.
* We do not act as “primary” wedding photographers, but rather what would be considered a "second shooter" that captures candid shots of guests and participants.
Product & Food Photography
Our experience with past work in this area ranges from retail products to food, beverages and bottling, clothing apparel, examples of professional services and artwork for print/sales.
Aloha Portraiture
In essence, the spirit of our Aloha Portraiture services are "out-of-the-studio" photographs. Whether immersed in the beauty of Hawaii or at your place of business or home, we aim for the absence of sterile studio environments and seamless backgrounds; but rather opt for the environment of everyday life.
Many use this style for business profiles showing them at their workplace, or family photos for residents and/or vacationers indulging in the Hawaiian environment.
Pet Portraits
Animals are special. They capture my heart and it's been my extreme pleasure to capture their likeness in photographs for their owners to treasure. From pet-centric events to custom shoots for your pet, we use all of the technical and aesthetic techniques as in our "human" portraits to capture the nature of your pet.
